Common Darter |
The Common Darter is a small dragonfly of 34 to 42mm in length. Although not everything in the natural world that has "common" in the name is common, in this case as it's name suggests it is a common dragonfly. There are several Darter dragonfly species in Britain and this is one of the most widespread of the Darters. It can be seen from the end of June through to the start of autumn, with a range of most of England, Wales, and Ireland. The male has a red abdomen and the females abdomen is yellow. |
