One success story of recent years is the Buzzard, and the way its numbers have increased.  During the 20th century it suffered a long list of setbacks including illegal hunting, pesticides effecting its eggs, disease to lack of food due to disease within the rabbit population.  It is now said to be Britains commonest bird of prey, with numbers growing very well in recent years.  Some estimates of the British Buzzard population are over 40,000 pairs.

It can be found in all counties, where it is found across a wide range of different habitats around the country; not just moors and mountains.  Indeed I often see a buzzard flying over the fields and set a side land behind my Leicestershire house.
